About Mark Belter
Most importantly I am a dad and a Husband who loves his family. I often wish I could talk to my own Dad again. I have so many questions I would love to ask him. I enjoy spending time with my kids and wife above all. I do not want to go into too much detail here about me over the course of doing these writings I am sure I will cover plenty about me and my life experiences.
I was born in Grand Rapids Michigan in 1974. I had a fun and adventurous childhood growing up. We took family vacations and lots of camping adventures. I have two siblings, an older brother Jeff and a younger sister Melinda. We have many great childhood memories growing up.
I had a great time in High School and enjoyed playing high school football. Seems like we all rush to get older and once you are older you wish you could go back to your freshman year in HS and do it all over again. I know I would love to redo high school again in the 80’s/90’s. (I would not like it now with all the technology.) Growing up I always tried to be a very nice and kind person to everyone I met. Throughout school I spoke to everyone and was friends with the “popular” sports kids and was just as good friends with the “non-popular” kids. I always tried to be a good friend to everyone and wanted everyone to get along. This is still my personality today. Always looking for the best in everyone.
After high school, my goal was to play college football and become a teacher. I attended Tiffin University where they had no teaching program, but I could play football. I started studying Criminal Justice and was going to play football. This did not last long. I thought
football was way too much work at the college level and decide to just have fun (bad idea probably). So, I moved on to Toledo University to become a teacher and stopped playing football.
After switching Colleges, I eventually just stopped going to college all together and move home and started working. I will write about that in my work/ career information. It will give you a snapshot of my jobs and businesses I have had over the last Twenty- Five years.
I am an ENTREPRENEUR at heart. I enjoy building businesses and starting companies. I have owned over 17 businesses. I have started so many different companies. I have learned a lot. I have invested money in stocks and real estate. I have run very successful mortgage and title business to put me in a position to try different businesses. I have started businesses in so many different fields. Usually I have
someone ask me – do you want to open this business or do this? I say that sounds interesting let’s try it. Some businesses go good – others ok-and some terrible. I became a dad in 2002 to my first son. I believe having kids changes you forever because things become not about you anymore. You look at everything a little different a lot differently. Things that used to be important at one time become less important.
This happens as you get older as well a lot of things just are not as important as your time with your kids and wife. There are a lot of changes as you have kids and a family. I met my wife, Jenette in 2008 and we had three boys in 2011, 2012, and 2014. That is what keeps me going each day is making the best life for my wife and all four of my boys. Meeting my wife and us having three boys together changed me as a person. I made a choice to always put her and the kids first and make sure I was always here for the boys and her.
It is much easier to be happy and treat people kind then to be a negative person or in a bad mood. I try each day to be as kind and happy as I can be. Struggles happen but at the end of the day all you can ask for is one more day with those you love and cherish. I feel it takes people more energy to be mad or negative then just smile and go with the flow.
I enjoy writing. Writing for me has always been a way to express my thoughts and feelings. I do not like to put much opinion wise on social media. I respect everyone’s point of views. (I don’t agree with a lot of stuff) However, I use social media (like Facebook) for updates, pictures of kids, and family stuff not my opinions or negativity. I will cover much more on our family as I write about all our experiences, my career, goals, achievements, family life, and everything else that is on my mind. Hopefully it leaves my family with memories and my ideas if I ever am not here to share them with them.
I wish my dad was here for so many reasons but none more then to just be able to speak to him about his life and views. He passed away unexpectedly in January 2017.
I have tried to start this blog or site Three different times over 7+ Years and I never can get it up. I want to have thoughts and memories just in case one day I am not here to share with my family and friends. I place where they can see pictures and stories of my childhood. My thoughts about life, business, and any other topic that comes up. Who knows what the world will look like in 2053 but maybe some of this advice will help? Not sure – 2053 sounds way long and old. I want my kids to have something to look back on if I ever unexpectedly was gone. I will try to post life lessons, career stuff, jobs I had, family vacations, and just topics that might be helpful to them and maybe others as well along the way. We shall see.
