What was behind creating Achieving Success LLC?
Achieving Success was created out of a need for people who are looking for employment and a second chance. Everyone can Achieve success and should have opportunities available to them if they are willing to work hard and stay on track.
I started a website not as a business to make money but to help people who needed to find work after having a life set back. People that were trying to get a new start in life. Often if people have had negative issues, they are looked at poorly or struggle to get opportunities. I have seen firsthand the struggles people have reentering society after dealing with these setbacks.
I see people who struggle with drugs and alcohol that are going through rehab who need a chance to work. I also have seen those who have served time in federal/ state prisons who are looking for jobs and struggle with shame or worrying about getting employment and fear background checks. Achieving success has eliminated a lot of these concerns. We locate job opportunities for these people and take out the stress of not knowing what employers are looking for. We are the able to vet jobs and
match what an employer is looking for so when we schedule them to meet the employer, we have eliminated the anxiety that typically can hang over their head.
As a business owner myself, I want someone who shows up to work, takes pride in their job, and has a positive attitude. These are basic but hard to find in todays work force at times. We have made a point to hire people recovering from drugs/ alcohol addiction, felons, and other nonviolent crimes. I can say it has had mixed results. I am proud of the ones who work hard and turn their lives around and get back on their feet. I also have seen relapses and people lose the battle to addiction. There are employees who are back in prison. I have had employees steal from our business and we had to remove them. Overall, I would take helping fifty percent of them and losing fifty percent as long as we are making a
difference.
For those people I have hired. I try to stay in touch with them, I send them messages and texts to try and make sure they know I care about them getting better. Even if they stop working, I try to reach out to them and remain someone positive in their life.
I have worked hard to get Achieving Success into the reentry program at our local state facility in Grafton. When I say it is a long process that moves slow it really is hard. You would think if you can benefit people, it would be much easier to get involved. I have had several talks and trying to set up a time when I can go into the prison and speak to those getting ready to be released. My vision is to one day be the program at least locally that helps everyone who is looking to return to work. Achieving Success will be able to locate and get them a good job when they are ready. It is all part of trying to help and keep people on the right track.
