Growing up going to Church.

GOOD DAYS GIVE YOU HAPPINESS
BAD DAYS GIVE YOU EXPERIENCE
WORST DAYS GIVE YOU LESSONS
AND THE BEST DAYS GIVE YOU MEMORIES.

I would not say my parents were extremely religious on the surface but as I think more about it, church
was a big part of my childhood. We went to a Methodist Church growing up.

We went to church on Sunday mornings. As a teenager I would try to fake sleeping in hoping we would
not have to go to church. It never worked we went to church just about every Sunday. My parents were
youth group leaders when we were younger. We would take the church youth group to Cedar Point
every year. That was my favorite trip!

I was baptized as a baby.

We went to church every Christmas Eve. Usually, a normal service then always the 11pm service.

I went through confirmation class at church. We did over night retreats with our minister.

We went to church camp with all the families each year. We would do church activities. Sing campfire
songs. A weekend full of church camp!

I remember my dad always singing the Hymns so loud and proud every Sunday. We had our own special
church row every week. Same spots all the time.

We would get donuts after Sunday school or the service in the fellowship hall.

We would say a prayer every night at the dinner table.

My parents bowled on the church bowling league.

My dad was always in the church Christmas play. The mean Inn keeper!

These are all memories of growing up in and around the Church. We have tried to do a lot of these things with our boys. Times sure have changed but we do try to keep church active in our family. All three of the younger boys went to Open Door Christian school. It was where they had time to study the bible, get introduced to religion, and learn.

We went to church on the Sundays, we can make it happen. Jenette Belter volunteered and taught Sunday school. We went to several church events, cookouts, ice cream social, trunk or treats, and so on. The boys went to vacation bible school for several years over the summer. We try to sit down for family dinners and the boys take time to pray. We have some good videos of them saying prayers at the dinner table when they were young. We have videos of them singing and dancing to bible school music too!
With that I wanted to share some of my favorite Bible verses. As a kid going through confirmation class, we had to memorize every book of the bible. I just tried to do it, but I failed. I know a lot of them still.!

Bible Verses:

Isaiah 41:10
There will always be trials and tribulations in life, but God will carry you through every storm in your life.
And give you strength to make it, even when you feel like you can’t.

Exodus 14:14
The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent. There will always be trials and tribulations in
life, but God will carry you through every storm in your life. And give you strength to make it.

Deuteronomy 31:6
Do not fear the road ahead, for God walks with you. His hand will guide you, and His grace will sustain
you through every trial.

Matthew 6:34
So don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Mark 10:27
With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-4
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be
born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a
time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a
time to dance.
